Two of the best games are coming out again remastered in HD for the Sony Playstation 3. It has been 7 or 8 years since I have played ICO so I’m looking forward to replaying it again, and I feel that Shadow of the Colossus could have really benefited from better hardware (the game seemed to try too hard for the poor PS2 to keep up). Click below to pre-order so you can either play these two classics for the first time, or enjoy them all over again (For trophies, of course!)

God of War came out in 2005 on the Sony Playstation 2 showing that the aging hardware could still compete even with the Microsoft Xbox which usually would produce the better graphics of the two. In 2007 God of War 2 came out and looked even better. In late 2009 the God of War Collection was released on the Playstation 3 to get people ready for God of War 3. Is the Collection worth getting now in 2010 with the release of 3 already behind us?
Just like Root Beer Tapper, this is a review for an XBLA game that is no longer available due to the bankruptcy of Midway, but is still available in the Midway Arcade Treasures collection. Smash TV may be even more appealing to today’s audience as it is a twin stick shooter long before Geometry Wars was around. This is the daddy of them all (the granddaddy would be Robotron 2084) and is still a ton of fun to play.
That’s a lot of consoles listed in the title, huh? That’s because this is a classic Midway arcade game, and in reality I could list a hundred more that it was on, but I will focus on the XBLA version as well as the one found on the Midway Arcade Treasures collection on PS2/Xbox/GameCube. Has the game held up after all these years?
A new year with some new releases… Just not too many this week. The coming weeks will be quite busy with releases, but this week sees Dark Void, Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection for Wii and the PS2 port of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. When I have to put a couple of budget PC releases of game shows just to fill the widget you know you have a slow week. The demo for Dark Void is available to download now, but I have yet to try it.
While many of you may not have heard of the game being reviewed this week, you have most definitely heard of the developers. Harmonix are the creators of Guitar Hero and now work on the successful Rock Band franchise, but their start in video games was a little known (at least as far as sales are concerned) PS2 game called Frequency.
This week’s Forgotten Friday deals with a PS2 game that many people passed over, and they passed over a great experience. Do you enjoy Yakuza movies? Did you enjoy Shenmue but felt that it needed more focus, especially when it came to combat? If you answered yes to either one of these, Yakuza is a game for you.
