PS3 Review: NetFlix disc

Netflix-Logo The NetFlix Instant player has been available for over a year now on Xbox 360 and has been integrated into Windows Media Center since May.  It is well known that NetFlix wants to be on as many devices as possible, and who can blame them.  The latest available is the Playstation 3 which unfortunately has to be a disc put into the system due to the agreement with Microsoft.  How does it stack up to the others?

NetFlix Instant Review: So I Married an Axe Murderer

So_I_Married_An_Axe_murderer_DVD_Cover Today’s review is for an underrated movie by the name of So I Married an Axe Murderer.  The movie was a disappointment to many, but slowly gained a following years after its release thanks to Mike Myers’ popularity surging after the Austin Powers movies.  It is available on NetFlix Instant, DVD, and Blu-Ray, so no reason not to check it out now.

NetFlix Instant Review: The 18 Year Old Virgin

18 Year Old Virgin Yes, you read the title right, the 18 Year Old Virgin.  I have not started to review porn but Asylum Pictures known for their “mockbuster” movies such as The Day The Earth Stopped, Snakes on a Train, and Transmorphers decided to try their hand at the raunchy teen comedy.  Unlike the other movies mentioned that rely on special effects and action, a teen comedy can be made on a very small budget, so this actually works.  American Pie this is not, but more like its straight-to-DVD sequels.  Good for a few laughs, but nothing to rave about.

NetFlix Instant Review: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly In my very first Forgotten Friday I did a review for the biopic 8 Seconds.  I did not care much for the movie and said that part of it could have been the fact that I had not heard of the person it was based on before seeing the movie.  Well, here is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, another biopic of someone I didn’t know anything about before seeing this, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Forgotten Friday – NetFlix Instant Review: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag

8 Heads in a Duffle Bag cover What would happen if Meet the Parents was released 3 years earlier, and instead of a guy having bad things happen to him because of his bad luck, it’s because his bag on the plane was swapped with that of a hitman? Ok, that’s still bad luck, but you would get 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, one of the reasons that Orion Pictures is no longer in business.

NetFlix Instant Review: P2

P2Sometimes people come over that are not in my usual circle of friends and want to watch movies. My friends are the type that keep up with the same kinds of movies as me and my fiancée. Her and I watch a LOT of movies, our NetFlix membership would be paid for before our heating bill if it came down to it in the middle of weather like that in The Day After Tomorrow. My cousin came over to spend time with us and we wanted to watch a movie. What to do when you need to find a movie no of us have seen… go to a movie that NO ONE saw. In comes P2.

Forgotten Friday – Netflix Instant Review: Dreamscape

This week’s movie is beyond forgotten for me, I never even knew it existed until it showed up on NetFlix Instant as a recommendation for me to watch. It is Dreamscape starring Dennis Quaid and was released in 1984. Now it is available on NetFlix Instant in HD and on DVD, but was it forgotten (or unknown) for a reason?

Forgotten Friday – NetFlix Instant Review: 8 Seconds

Stop me if you’ve seen this one before. Guy wants to be famous for what he does, despite his family not aproving. He starts small, meets a girl, makes it big. They get married, then he cheats and starts drinking. He suffers at what he does, then they make up, he quits drinking, and he gets better again. Can you name the movie? Probably not since it’s been done a million times before.
