Indie Games Wednesday – XBLI Review: Bloody Death

Bloody Death cover Are you old enough to remember when games didn’t have ratings?  Do you remember one of the major reasons they do now?  If you said Mortal Kombat, you would be right… but I’m talking about Night Trap.  Yes, Night Trap starring the late Dana Plato came out on the Sega CD at a time when video games were thought to be “kids toys” and took people by surprise because it had realistic video of real people (although the quality is laughable by today’s standards) in a horror video game of sorts (it was mostly a parody but that is beside the point).  Why am I talking about Night Trap in a review that is not for Night Trap?  Well because it spawned a string of barely interactive FMV (Full Motion Video) games and we can now relive those glory days (??) with Bloody Death on Xbox Live Indie Games.

Avatar Rockets (XBLI) Updated [UPDATED 7-22]

Avatar Rockets cover Avatar Rockets on Xbox Live Indie Games has been updated.  Going to bed now but will try it out tomorrow to see what has changed.  In the meantime if you don’t know the game, click here to read my review of the game before the update.

[UPDATE 7-22 @ 2:36 AM] So I have been checking the last few days and whenever I load the game up it does not say anything about an update so I am curious if I had bad information or if the update process is not working.  Anyone out there have any info?

Indie Games Wednesday – PSP Minis Review: Brainpipe

Brainpipe cover What is Brainpipe you ask?  Well, according to the description on the PSN Store it is “a unique gaming experience where the ultimate objective is to transcend humanity.”  How do you do this you ask?  By “navigating the tunnels of your mind, exercising your hand-eye coordination while relishing in the funkadelic sights and sounds of your inner self."  Um, yeah, what?

Indie Games Wednesday – PSP Minis Review: Bloons

Bloons cover PSP Minis haven’t been given a whole lot of love by me, at least not in my reviews, so I’m going to kick off the latest Indie Games Wednesday with a couple Minis reviews.  First up is Bloons which many of you may have played already since it’s everywhere: Flash game sites all over the internet, iphone, DSi, WiiWare.  I have only played the PSP Mini version so that is the version I am reviewing right now.

Indie Games Wednesday – XBLI Review: Old Spice Racers

Old Spice Racers cover The second batch of Old Spice sponsored gaming is here and the first one I tried out was Old Spice Racers after a chat with the developers telling me it was a modern take on the SNES classic Uniracers.  So, how much is it like that game?  Will gamers today care?

Indie Games Wednesday – XBLI Review: Mayan Countdown

Mayan Countdown cover Many people are talking about the end of the world coming in 2012 due to the Mayan prediction.  This “game” is a countdown to December 21st 2012.  Is it more than just a screen savor?  Is it worth the asking price of a mere 80 MS Points ($1)?

Indie Games Wednesday – XBLI Review: Catch Me If You Can

Catch Me If You Can cover When I first saw Catch Me If You Can listed up on the Xbox Marketplace today I thought it looked like it was another rip-off of N+ like Experiment 12 and its sequel Experiment 13.  I was wrong as it is nothing like that, although I kind of wish it was.
