Forgotten Friday – PS2 Review: Frequency

Frequency cover While many of you may not have heard of the game being reviewed this week, you have most definitely heard of the developers.  Harmonix are the creators of Guitar Hero and now work on the successful Rock Band franchise, but their start in video games was a little known (at least as far as sales are concerned) PS2 game called Frequency.

Forgotten Friday – Blu-Ray and DVD Review: Night of the Creeps

nightofthecreepscover A few weeks back I reviewed Night of the Comet on DVD and mentioned how it was one of the most wanted movies to come out to DVD.  The other movie that topped that list was Night of the Creeps and now it not only is out on DVD but Blu-Ray as well complete with the original ending that fans have been wanting.  Night of the Comet didn’t quite live up to the hype after I viewed it, did Night of the Creeps?

Forgotten Friday – DVD Review: Slaughter High

slaughter-high-dvd It’s a rainy Thursday night, your Xbox is overheating and the pizza delivery guy just arrived with pepperoni, hamburger, and bacon pizza (mmmmm… bacon). What do you do while you eat? Why, pop in Slaughter High on DVD, of course. What, that wasn’t your first choice? Yeah, I guess I can’t blame you. This is the situation I found myself in today though, my friends wanted to watch a horror movie and there it was sitting in my collection still yet to be opened. Why was it there? Simple, it was $5 and I remember the cover being in every horror section of every video store in the 80s and 90s. It was released by Lionsgate as part of their new “Lost Collection” line of movies. None of us had seen it, so we figured what the hell, it should be good for a laugh. I really can’t explain any better than that as to why were were watching, but in the end, I’m glad we did. Was it a good movie? No, but we DID laugh.

I’m Back…

Those of you may have seen my Guitar Hero: Van Halen review and were shocked to see an update.  I was busy with school and got a new job, but I’ve been playing a lot of games in the meantime and have a ton of updates coming up soon.  From now on I will have a regular schedule and some new ideas I have for the site.  I have had Forgotten Friday for a while now and periodically have done an Indie Game spotlight.  Well now Fridays will be the forgotten games and movies, Wednesdays will be Indie Game Wednesdays, and Thursday will be Retro Thursdays where I will review some old school games I have been playing.  Also keep an eye out for “First Impressions” and similar aspects since I have been playing a lot of epic (re: LONG) games that would take forever to finish and review, so I can at least get an impression out there and I will update the review as need be.

Forgotten Friday – DVD Review: Night of the Comet

Night of the Comet cover Back in high school and college DVD was a brand new format that let me discover all kinds of movies I missed out on as a kid. I would frequent many forums and one of the top movies that always showed up on people’s most wanted lists was Night of the Comet. It finally came to DVD and I finally got to see what all the fuss was about…

Forgotten Friday- DVD Review: Wonderfalls

Wonderfalls cover If you are a fan of Family Guy you may remember the first episode when it came back from cancellation (North by North Quahog). In the beginning of this episode Peter lists off a long list of shows that “Well I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes we have a shot.” Wonderfalls is one of those shows mentioned, but unlike a lot of the others, it should not have been. The show has been out on DVD for a few years now, but I just recently sat down and watched it all and I enjoyed it very much. The show was canceled before all episodes were aired, but the DVD set contains all 13 episodes.

Forgotten Friday – NetFlix Instant Review: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag

8 Heads in a Duffle Bag cover What would happen if Meet the Parents was released 3 years earlier, and instead of a guy having bad things happen to him because of his bad luck, it’s because his bag on the plane was swapped with that of a hitman? Ok, that’s still bad luck, but you would get 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, one of the reasons that Orion Pictures is no longer in business.

Forgotten Friday – Netflix Instant Review: Dreamscape

This week’s movie is beyond forgotten for me, I never even knew it existed until it showed up on NetFlix Instant as a recommendation for me to watch. It is Dreamscape starring Dennis Quaid and was released in 1984. Now it is available on NetFlix Instant in HD and on DVD, but was it forgotten (or unknown) for a reason?

Forgotten Friday – NetFlix Instant Review: 8 Seconds

Stop me if you’ve seen this one before. Guy wants to be famous for what he does, despite his family not aproving. He starts small, meets a girl, makes it big. They get married, then he cheats and starts drinking. He suffers at what he does, then they make up, he quits drinking, and he gets better again. Can you name the movie? Probably not since it’s been done a million times before.
